THE BROADCAST ENGINEERING CONSERVATION GROUP:
https://becg.org.uk/
Paul Marshall has been extremely helpful to me and I can’t praise this group that he is involved in enough for the work they are doing to preserve some of our television industries’ history.
They are focussed on the renovation of outside broadcast ‘scanners’ but have delved into other OB vehicles along the way. I’m amazed to see that so far it looks like they have either ‘returned to life’, or are in the process of doing so, to seven OB scanners.
Do browse their excellent website to see the extent of their work and please do support them in anyway possible

MCR21 PRESERVATION:

MCR21 is one of the Pye built OB scanners that were the mainstay of the BBC OB fleet during the 60’s and into the 70’s.
The scanner is currently being restored by the BTTT group and the website details the vehicle in amazing detail. I have used much of their documentation during my ‘Our World’ Abbey Road OB article.
Thanks also to two of the members, who have been magnificent in giving me access to further documentation. Nick Gilbey for lots of detail about the whole ‘Our World’ programme and Brian Summers for much about MCR28 that was used on the Ab b ey Road OB. A sister scanner to MCR21 of course.
Visit MCR21.or.uk to find out about one of these most fascinating vehicles.
