TELL US YOUR NEVE CONSOLE’s ‘A’ NUMBER!

1969 Neve Project Engineer Derek Stoddart changed the haphazard Neve Console numbering system by introducing the ‘A’ serial Numbers for all Neve Projects. Although this applied to all types of Projects, it brought into being a unique identifying system for tracking Neve Consoles.
Over the years John Turner, Geoff Tanner, Blake Devitt and myself have tried to compile lists of known Neve Console ‘A’ numbers and now a colleague of Blake’s, Joe Barefoot is bringing some new software to produce the definitive Console ‘A’ number and detail listing.

Would you help us by providing the following details of your Neve Console, or Neve’s that you’ve dealt with in the past if you know accurate details.

1: The Console A number. This appears on the rear of every console on a ‘Serial Plate’ stamped Rupert Neve & Co .
2: The number of Channels, Groups and Monitors.
3: The Module Types, particularly Mic Amp and Channel Switching Modules.
4: Any known history such as original and subsequent owners and the ‘Current Owner or Studio’ ideally with ‘Location’ would be nice to have, but there’s no obligation as I don’t expect everyone to be happy to have their names included in such a listing.
5: Any known modifications.
6: If possible, a photo showing the overall console for identifing purposes, as there are too many mis-labelled ones out there!

Any dealers who have records of previous consoles passing through would perhaps only be able to provide partial information, but that would still be useful.

We will make the ‘A’ Console Listing freely available as it will be a significant document in the ‘History of Neve’s‘ and will help us chase up the historical details of each console where possible.
It would be wonderful to at least know the Console ‘A’ number and type of mixer it is, and really great of course to know who it first was delivered to.
